This office is the fund raising arm of the college, it also manages gifts, and maintains public relations. The office coordinates direct mail, grants and contracts, and other fund raising activities. Direct mail began in 1985 with a $50,000 grant from the Exxon Education Foundation. Since then, direct mail has expanded and in 2002, the program raises around $1.4 to $1.5 million a year. The Director, a tribal member who joined the college in 1996, developed a planned giving program and an organized program of local and national solicitation.
Since completing phase I and II of "Rebuilding the Lakota Nation" capital campaign, the college is now focusing on phase III of the capital campaign which aims to raise funds to endow fifteen (15) new faculty positions by 2004 and a further fifteen (15) by 2010.
