ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAM (POLICY)
A. Adult Education Department
1. The Adult Education Department offers a program that is responsive to the educational needs of
adults on the Pine Ridge Reservation. This department provides instructional programs in functional
literacy, G.E.D. Preparation and other courses leading to the economic self-sufficiency of Indian
adults.
2. Tutors will be provided as needed, who are bilingual in Lakota and English, to assist students with
their courses.
3. Appropriate certificates will be provided to students who satisfactorily complete programs of
instruction under this department.
B. General Education Development Classes (GED)
Students working for a G.E.D. certificate may enroll for free classes through the College Center in
their district. All district centers will offer free G.E.D. instruction.
