South Dakota Indian Studies Requirement for State Certification


Registration Process

Individuals seeking state certification by enrolling in the ED 303E Indian Studies course need to submit college transcripts showing your degree awarded and complete the online application on the OLC website www.olc.edu under Services, then Jenzabar and click on New Students Apply Here.

Email documents to Leslie Mesteth in the Registrar’s Office at lmesteth@olc.edu once you have completed the online application and state in your email that you wish to enroll in the ED 303E coursefor professional development as a non-degree seeking student.

Cost:

The cost of tuition for tribal members is $84.00 a credit hour and $103.00 per credit hour for non-Indians students.

The total cost due by the third week of classes for tribal members including fees is $360.00 and for non-Indian students is $417.00. The total cost of books, if ordered through the OLC Braveheart Bookstore, is $39.90, the books are “American Indian Stories”, Zintkalal-Sa for $14.95 and “Teaching Indigenous Students”, Reyhner (2015) for $24.95.
